Characteristics
STEEL-COTTON is a semi-transparent, cotton fabric with low polyester content for the protection against high-frequency (HF) radiation and low frequency electrical fields (LF).
Why we sell this fabric as special item: The silver-price is increasing more and more, so we decided to weave a stainless steel thread into this fabric instead of a silver/copper thread. All developing samples was very promising. As the first charge reached us after 8 months of developing time, it was not washable! The stainless steel threads was wrapped over the cotton yarn differenty. So Steel-Cotton evolves wrinkles on washing.
To find another solution as to dispose this fabric, we make a virtuee of necessity: Steel-Cotton has unwashed a high quality, its nearly white and due to the stainless steel thread groundable! So we can recommend it without limitations for all applications without washing: Sewing it in furniture or mattresses, as groundable bed underlay, for bigger shielding screens, to lay it under floors, for handy bags, etc. sure you find further applications!

Shielding attenuation
Grounding
Due to the surface conductivity this fabric can be grounded to shield low frequency (LF) electric fields. For professional grounding we recommend our Grounding-Plug EST.
The shielding attenuation is regularly tested in our own laboratory or by Professor Dipl.Ing. Pauli at the University of the German Federal Armed Forces in Munich due to the standards ASTM D4935-10 and/or IEEE-STD-299-2006. The line in the diagram stands for the radial direction of polarisation (both directions, horizontal/vertical) and indicates the attenuation achievable in practice.
